Join us in celebrating the start of construction with the project team & hear from elected officials!
This event will commemorate and celebrate the start of construction at the Etna Center for Community. For months now, the abatement, selective demolition, stabilization, and underground utility scopes have been proceeding well. With this event, we are beginning the new construction and restoration scopes for the project. Starting at 3PM, we will hear from leaders, have a ceremony, go on hard hat tours, and toast at CoStar Brewing.
When:
Friday, July 11, 2025 at 3 p.m.
Where:
54 Locust St, Etna, PA 15223
Who:
Lt. Governor Austin Davis; Congressman Chris Deluzio; State Senator Lindsey Williams; State Rep. Lindsay Powell; reps. from Etna Community Organization, the Borough of Etna, the construction crew, and consultant team involved in the project
What:
Groundbreaking ceremony with messages from elected officials and the Etna Community Organization. Optional hard hat tours to follow the ceremony. Attendees will be invited for light fare at CoStar Brewing following ceremony and tours.
Why:
Commemorate the start of construction for the Etna Center for Community. In April 2025, the Etna Community Organization awarded the $4.2 million contract to Volpatt Construction. Work has commenced and the selective demolition phase is now complete, making way for the construction / renovation phase. The project includes the renovation of the historic Ochse Hall (pronounced ock-see), originally built in the 1870s by one of Etna’s founding families. Once complete, the Etna Center for Community will house a public library on the ground floor, community spaces, a courtyard, and four apartments on the two upper floors.
